Death awoke in a dimly lit room. Her arms and legs were bound to a cold metal table. Death had been in these situations before; all she had to do was twist the gravity to push the brown leather straps through the band, push the metal prong up and your done!
Death tried it now... Nothing happened! She sat as far up as she could and stared at the straps. As she examined them, she heard a heavy door open behind her.
A deep male voice said, "Don't even try, they are bound. See the little symbols?" A pale hand touched the brown leather and little black symbols appeared. "Carved by China Sorrows herself." He said lovingly.
Death craned her head around and she could just make out some black curly hair. "Who are you?" Death asked and started to lay back down. She was defensleless. What was the difference between laying and sitting when you can't use your powers?
The man laughed. "You don't need to know, you're just a tool that I shall use to get what I want."
Death sighed. "You sound like the Sanctuary... Always wanting me to do something..." She shook her head and smirked. "I'm gonna call you Sanc then. Or you could make it easier by telling me your name..."
She could hear his smile in his voice. "You can call me... Dusk."
Death gasped. She knew the stories of the vampire Dusk, the one with the vendetta against Valkyrie Cain for the scar along his eye. "And what do you want me to do, Almighty Dusk?" She asked with thick sarcasm.
A hand flew towards her throat and something cold pressed against her exposed pearly skin. "I want you to get the Sanctuary's Necklace of Truth."
"The what?" Death asked, her eyebrows knit together in confusion.
"There is a necklace that the Council of Elders use when they need information. It is called the Necklace of Truth. As the name suggests, it is a neclace and when you are wearing it, you can not tell a lie."
"And why do you want it?" Death asked skeptically.
"The less you know, the better." Dusk sounded bored, as if Death was a stupid child that wasn't understanding the simplest equation there was.
Death snorted. "Get these straps off me."
"Why? So you can kill me?" Dusk sounded smug.
"No," Death said and narrowed her eyes. "So I can sit up and grab your stupid necklace!" Death was annoyed now. Why did Dusk have to make her sound so stupid?
Dusk walked over to where her wrists were strapped rogue table and unclipped her and Death finally got a good look at him. He was lean and had black hair. His eyes darted to Death's and she noticed that they were a brilliant shade of green. His scar was an angry red.
Death suddenly hated Valkyrie for what she did to Dusk's handsome face. She swore her own vendetta against the little dark haired girl. She would die the same death that her partner had.
She smiled as she imagined Skulduggery's face as he saw the Cain girl's lifeless body on his porch...
Just a few errors...
